We’re collecting for Craft Hope for the Gulf Coast

100x100I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I heart crafters! Not just because of the wonderful things we make, but how there are so many crafters out there who step up and work together to make this world a better place (via fundraising, volunteering, you get my drift). The community is something I feel very special to be a part of.

Enough gushiness for a moment. The reason I’m feeling so warm and fuzzy right now is because fellow HDer Carey sent us information this morning about Craft Hope, which is an awesome site dedicated to helping those in need with handmade goods.

Their latest project involves helping out the animals in the oil spill. They are in need of washcloths to help clean all the toxic oil (and who know what else) off of them.

Where Handmade Detroit comes in is that we are going to be collecting these washcloths to send down a big shipment to help out. These can be knitted, crocheted, sewn, etc, just as long as they are handmade. Read all about the specifics here.

We will be at the Etsy Birthday Meetup in Birmingham on June 18, and will collect them there to send out. If you want to help out but can’t be at the party, please email us at amy [AT] handmadedetroit . com, and we will work out getting the goods from you.

Okay everyone, now go hug a crafter!
