20×200 provides art possibilities for everyone

My co-worker and art buddy Marian just sent me this link to 20×200, a great new art initiative from Jen Bekman. What’s it all about? “large editions + low prices x the internet = art for everyone”. Love it. Check out the web site’s description for the full story:

  • As we see it, there are a lot of people out there who want to sell their art and a lot of people who’d like to buy it. They just have a hard time finding each other. The internet is the perfect place to bring those people together, and we’re exactly the right people to make it happen. We’re passionate about art and the internet at 20×200. We’re really excited about creating a place where almost any art lover can be an art collector.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday two new pieces become available at 2 p.m. There’s always one print piece and one photo. Three sizes are available, with the smallest size being $20, the medium size $200 and the largest size $2,000. The large sizes tend to be for collectors or are the original prints, so the small/medium sizes are affordable ways to invest in some fabulous pieces from the coolest artists around.

You might remember my post on Kate Bingaman-Burt and her blog, Obsessive Consumption. Well, how excited was I to see her glasses print up for sale on 20×200!

If you’re like me, you’ll be watching this web site like a hawk this afternoon to see what today’s new piece will be. Ooh, the uncertainty! And make sure to check out 20×200’s blog, too. There’s all sorts of info on the featured artists.
