In the next few days, West Troy street and Woodward avenue in Ferndale comes alive with workers and volunteers racing to get ready for the fourth annual D.I.Y. Street Fair . The main stage is delivered, the tents pop up one by one and hundreds of details come together to make the now award-winning event just so.
From Friday at 5 p.m. to Sunday when the sun goes down DIYSF hosts local businesses and crafters – in addition to dozens of bands, kids stuff, tons of Michigan brews beers and more at the biggest summers end party around! But I’m bias, I was on the planning committee for three years, but TRUST ME if you haven’t been, you can’t miss it!
One small “crafty” contribution I do every year is the DIYSF Volunteer lanyards. There was a huge batch of two-sided promo flyers made year one, and had a bounty left over. And with a little cutting, hole punching and ribboning, guests in attendance can easily spot a volunteer to answer questions or point you in the right direction.
D.I.Y. Street Fair takes as many volunteers as possible! If you would like to volunteer at this years event it’s not to late to contact volunteer coordinator Michelle Foster. You can email her at info {at} ferndaletimebank {dot} org for the event schedule and all about what volunteers do.
Thanks for reading! Keep your eyes peeled for Amy of My Marigold, Bethany’s Reware Vintage, and me – Carey from Glass Action! all lined up in a row in spots 15-17 at DIYSF this year right where HD proper has been years past. Please swing by and say hello and have an awesome weekend!
