We’re pretty excited to keep the Maker Faire Detroit spirit alive and kicking this year at DUCF. Long-time pal (you can say that after a year, right?) i3 Detroit joins us again this year for a massive make-and-take area up on the mezzanine at the Fillmore.
i3 Detroit’s own Amy Wilson (maybe you’ve seen her at a Detroit Derby Girls bout?!) will be giving quick lessons on classic board game jewelrey making. This hands-on make ‘n’ take will guide you step-by-step through the making of various pieces of Scrabble jewelry. A small material fee will be charged but you will get to keep the piece. Joining Amy is i3 Detroit cohort Matt Switlik. He’ll be demonstrating soft electronics. This project will guide you step-by-step through the making of an EL Wire-traced cowboy hat. A material fee will also be charged but you will get to keep your fully functional light-up cowboy hat.
Joining us from Ann Arbor is All Hands Active for their first Detroit Urban Craft Fair appearance. Want to learn how to solder? AHA will show you how it’s done with a collectible Maker Faire 2010 pin you can proudly wear around the theater once you’ve mastered soldering.
