Look out! The planning has begun for Ferndale’s D.I.Y Street Fair‘s sophomore year happening September 19th & 20th 2009.
Last year, I was excited to be a part of the creation of a brand new festival in Ferndale. For months, a dedicated team of big thinkers and wisecrackers met and pitched festival ideas. What did we like? What was out dated? What will the city let us get away with?!
Late September the results were revealed and D.I.Y. STREET FAIR was born. Hundreds of creative and independently driven folks laid the foundation for what was an amazing two day event (which also won Ferndale’s “Best Of The City Award.”) Music, kids stuff, art, beer … what a time.
On April 16th, team DIYSF will host a party at The Loving Touch to celebrate the kick off of planning for this year! This festival is a huge undertaking, and we’re looking for help. Talent. Sponsors. Volunteers. Anyone that would like the inside scoop of being a part of the three-night, two-day freak out should come mingle. Share your thoughts from last year and fill our ears with suggestions and thoughts.
Lots of updates will happen through the official website www.diystreetfair.com, but why miss a party? Guests may opt to make a $10. donation at the door to benefit FernCare. Donors will receive a wristband good for free pool, snacks, and $1 off drink purchases from 8-11 p.m. The Loving Touch is located just south of the WAB on Woodward Avenue at Troy Street.
