The NYTimes has an interesting story today about how craft sales are actually benefitting from the recession. “For Craft Sales, Recession is a help” touches on the sales reports of giant craft supply stores like Michaels and Joann’s Fabrics, as well as those from Etsy. The article says many people are creating their gifts as a cost-effective alternative. Was that a factor in your making this season? Or do you disagree with the sentiment: If a sweater from China costs $20 at Forever 21, is it actually cheaper to make it yourself?
