I saw this on Freep’s web site this morning, and thought it was worth reposting. If you’re cleaning out some of your unused thrifting/craft supplies as the end of the year approaches, or have a few extra bucks in your coin purse this week, perhaps you can help these guys out.
“A fire that gutted a St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Flat Rock on Friday destroyed furniture, clothes, shoes, household items and toys.
Donations to replace what was lost can be dropped off at any of the nine stores operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. To find a store, call 877-788-4623 or go to www.svdpdet.org.
The thrift stores are especially in need of winter clothing and blankets.
The charity is asking people to make cash donations to build a new thrift store in the Flat Rock area. Donations can be made through the society’s Web site or sent to: St. Vincent de Paul, Attn: Flat Rock Fund, 3000 Gratiot Ave., Detroit 48207.
