ArtPrize is totally awesome and huge

If you’re on the West side of the state, you’ve probably been innundated with info about ArtPrize. If you’re on the East, you might want to consider a road trip this weekend, cause this is awesome.

Billed as the world’s largest art contest, ArtPrize runs through Oct. 10 and has over 1,200 artists performing, showing and creating work right now in downtown Grand Rapids. Viewers get to vote on the projects, narrowing it down to the top 10 and then a final winner will be selected to receive $250,000.

So far, over 20,000 votes have been placed and you have until tomorrow night (Sept. 30) to get yours in for the first round. So much for Michigan lacking culture, huh?

If you’re in the area, make sure you check all the art events out. I mean, what other event is going to bring you 100,000 paper planes being dropped on 20,000 people in downtown GR?
