DUCF helpful hints

Applications for this year’s Detroit Urban Craft Fair will be available soon, and we want to help you get ready!

We recently took part in an Indie Biz Chicks Conference about this very subject, and here are some of the tips we shared to help prepare you for applying to DUCF (and any other craft fair for that matter):

* Get to know the fair. A great way to see if this is the kind of fair you would interested in being a part of is to check out the DUCF website, as well as our DUCF Flickr page. You can see pictures of the past fairs including the layout, crowd levels, participating vendors, and what was sold.
* Look into the local tax laws, regulations, etc, to make sure selling in Michigan/Detroit suits you. {Editor’s note: And make sure to follow them!}
* Think QUALITY! You will be submitting images of the work you intend to sell, so make sure the photos are of good quality (i.e., in focus, good exposure, with the items that are featured easy to spot). Submit your best work possible, but make sure to only submit items that you intend to sell at DUCF. If you need to re-shoot your work, now is the time!
* Follow the application specs. It makes it easier for everyone involved if we get the right information from the get-go. We get way more applications than we have room for, so accuracy counts.

More DUCF information coming your way soon!
