Book Review: Pretty in Punk
25 Punk, Rock, and Goth knitting projects
By Alyce Benevides and Jaqueline Milles
Chronicle Books
119 pages, $19.95, paperback
2007
Woohoo to punky craft books! For the little anarchist in your life, that just happens to enjoy knitting, Pretty in Punk is a great find.
This book has helpful instructions, fun photos of the finished products, and a great punk-graphic approach to the lay out. But the projects, obviously, are what really make this book a winner. From skull arm warmers to felted anarchist messenger bags, there is a great variety of knitted projects that don’t rely on loving scarves only.
It’s officially November. Put this book on your holiday shopping list now. Oy!

Where is the pattern for the hat on the book cover?? Pattern for “God Save the Queen” is not the pattern on the cover! I want to knit the cover hat, that is why I bought the book.

Alyce was kind enough to explain to me how to make the hat pattern “God Save the Queen” look like the hat on the book cover. They pushed up the I-cord inside the hat for the photo shoot. I could caste off before the start of the I-cord. Thank you Alyce.
