Did you forget to apply?

The deadline for the first Detroit Urban Craft Fair may have passed, but there are still plenty of upcoming opportunities ’round here for indie crafters to showcase their wares. Here are a few we know of:

This summer
We Are All Friends fashion show
The collective is putting on a fashion show August 19th @ CAID. They are still looking for a couple fashion designers to showcase their work at the music/fashion event, which will benefit Food Not Bombs. Interested designers should e-mail weareall_friends@hotmail.com.

Shadow Art Fair
Not much on the web site yet, but the Shadow Art Fair is a brillant idea: An alternative craft fair in Ypsi right before Ann Arbor’s big Art Fair. Keep checking the page for updates.

Wolverzine Fest

WolverZine fest
For you zine makers, there is the WolverZine fest. This promises to be a great event — and it’s only $10 for a table!

Dally in the Alley
There is always Dally!

Every week
Growing Hope market
From their e-mail: “Growing Hope (community/school gardening nonprof in Ypsi), as part of our Healthy Markets Initiative, is starting an additional Ypsi Farmer’s Market… It’ll be downtown in Ypsi on MI Ave & Hamilton, in the Key Bank parking lot, on Tuesdays 3-7 pm, beginning in June. We’re excited that the market will bring people downtown, help support local farmers, crafters, and other businesses, and increase access to food for lots of folks in the community. The Ypsi Food Co-op will be there (and selling the great River Street Bakery breads), and will be running a wireless EBT (food stamp) and credit card machine for all vendors interested in participating. Opening day is June 6!

Soooo, we’re still looking for more vendors, on a one-time, periodic, or every time basis, and we’d love crafters, backyard growers, and others to come and join. If you’re doing food-related products, you need to have the proper licenses/permits. I’m hoping some hipster-crafters want to come out! This market is exclusively locally made or grown items, which is defined as Michigan– with Northern Ohio allowed to squeeze in there, too. Prospective vendors can download an app off the Growing Hope website main page at www.growinghope.net. Please help us spread the word!!

We’re also super supporters of the Ypsi Farmer’s Market in Depot Town, which is on Wed 9-6 and Saturdays 8-2… you can also find Growing Hope there most Saturdays.

Drop us a line at 786-8401 or info@growinghope.net if you’re interested, and come out and support our new market day!”

Market for the Masses
Every single Saturday from 11-4, crafters can set up at Xhedos in Ferndale for Market for the Masses. Tabling is free, you just show up with your own and set up. Super great way for first-time sellers to get their feet wet and make some money.

Baar Bazaar
We hear that the Garden Bowl event would love to have more “makers.” Every single Wednesday night from 6 p.m. on, you can show up and set up for free.

Rock ‘n’ Rummage
There are too many nights for me to list them all, so check out the R’n’R MySpace.

Handmade Detroit
Finally, Handmade Detroit has a couple more things up its sleeve for this summer. These include a couple of smaller local events and opportunities to sell under our name. There is even talk of a Handmade Detroit distro. We can’t say much yet, but keep checking back with us: We’d love to get more sellers to join our core group in person.
